Clarke Thuys worked in the healthcare industry before beginning his training as a perfusionist in 1991 at the Royal Children’s Hospital. He gained ABCP certification in 1993 and has worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital since then. Involvement in teaching and training perfusion students has been a large part of his professional practice, having coordinated the ABCP Perfusion course for many years, and expanded course participation to Singapore and Hong Kong. He delivered the Paediatric Perfusion subject for the Swinburne University Master of Perfusion. He has also been involved in international associations, including ANZCP, AmSECT, and JASECT.
Mr. Thuys has presented at many national and international meetings, and authored and co-authored publications in the fields of perfusion and cardiac surgery. He is a peer reviewer for Perfusion, Journal of Extracorporeal Technology, World Journal for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, and, Heart Lung and Circulation.
